Work on things that accumulate success

Two examples in my life appear to be accumulating excellent success. The first is my zettelkasten. The more I read and use it, the more permanent thoughts that are mine and connected.

The best example, though, is my website. I have been making steady progress on my website and its UI's. I can see my use of it getting more and more useful in my life. I can see my programming skills increasing all the time. Also, I'm not reinventing wheels, the work is accumulating to make the overall experience better and better.

I argue one should work on this type of work. The accumulation of successes leads to value.

I believe a counter example of this is making excel sheets that take care of a task. A reason that can't accumulate in the same way is that excel doesn't scale with lots of data. Another reason excel sheets don't accumulate success is because there's significant performance issues in connecting them. Also, there is not good version control (like git) for those.
